Should I buy a second hand Air Flow Meter (or MAF Sensor) for my Golf IV or pay the extra and get a new one?
I have a 2001Y GT TDI golf mk 4. I have recently suffered massive loss in power and i believe have narrowed the problem down to the MAF sensor(or air flow sensor) being broken on my car. I have called around breakers and dealers etc and i can get a second hand one for about £50 or a new one for £75 (exchange for broken one). Is it worth getting the new one over the second hand one, or doesnt it matter really with this kinda part.
Thanks in advance.
I would definately advise buying new on most electronic parts. You don't know the exact condition they came from and the sensors are usually very important in the functionality of the car. The particular one controls air / fuel mixture and can cause poorer gas milage and other issues if it is not reading 100%.
Good luck!
