Bridgestone/Firestone warranty?
I bought a Firestone tire (a new one) back in May, and they mentioned a warranty. Inexplicably, I do not have the paperwork anymore. The other day I ran over something nasty on the highway and it tore up a tire, so I'm on a spare now. My questions are:
Is it possible Firestone will for free replace this tire, even without the paperwork (I'm sure it was done under my name)? The AAA guy suggested they often do even if it's your fault for running over something.
I had gone to a Firestone about 20 miles from my house to get this one that is now torn up, but there are many closer and I don't want to drive on the spare too long (have already driven 40 miles, unfortunately). Do you think any can accommodate me if I don't have the paperwork, and is there a chance I could get a free replacement?

The situation you have would fall under a "Road Hazard" claim, which is basicly insurance on the tire, which you purchased from a retailor, not Firestone the manufacturer.
Firestone owns some retail outlets (there would be a sign that says "master care" somewhere) if this is where you purchased the warranty, you could go to any Firestone owned retailor that also has a master care sign. Even without the paperwork, they should have a record on computer.
If you bought the tire at an independent Firestone retailor, then your warranty is really only good there. Nor will anyone else have a record of your transaction. Another shop would NOT be reimbursed by Firestone, because it is not a defect in the tire. The retailor just loses money when they have to replace your tire. The place to go to get a tire replacement should be the place that you paid for the road hazard insurance.
